ABOUT BANDRA FAIR 2026
Every September, the hill of Mount Mary awakens to one of Mumbai’s most enduring and beloved traditions.Pilgrims make their way up the historic steps to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, families return to a celebration carried across generations, and Bandra comes alive with the distinctive spirit of the Feast.
At the heart of the occasion is devotion to Our Lady of the Mount and the celebration of the Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. Around this pilgrimage has grown the Bandra Fair - a tradition woven into the cultural
memory of the neighbourhood and cherished by visitors from Mumbai and beyond.
From Sunday, 13 September to Sunday, 20 September 2026, the Mount Mary Steps will once again be lined with
the familiar fair stalls that form such a memorable part of the experience. Visitors will find religious and devotional
articles, prepared food and traditional sweets, garments, books and other permitted items - bringing colour, flavour
and a sense of occasion to the journey towards the Basilica.
For many, the Fair is remembered through simple but lasting moments: the climb up the steps, the scent of
traditional sweets, familiar faces behind the stalls, family visits repeated year after year, and the sight of the Basilica
rising above the celebration. These memories have made the Bandra Fair more than an annual event; they have
made it part of Bandra’s living heritage.
Yet, above all, the Bandra Fair remains a gathering shaped by faith. The Basilica stands at its spiritual centre - a
place of prayer, thanksgiving and devotion that has welcomed generations of pilgrims and people from different
communities and walks of life.
