The blessed statue of Our Lady of the Mount photographed on the 19th June 2020 On the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (19th June 2020) the Basilica participated in the Annual Global Rosary Relay that was planned by an organization called 'World Priest' based in Ireland. The purpose of this Rosary Relay was to pray for Priests – for their ministry – so that they may help the entire Church respond to the Lord’s call, that God’s Kingdom may be furthered, and that the Trinity may be glorified. Cardinal Oswald Gracias, the Archbishop of Bombay had requested the Basilica to participate in this relay. Friday also marked the 3rd death anniversary of former Archbishop, Late Cardinal Ivan Dias. He had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother. This was the 11th year that the Annual Global Rosary Relay was conducted, only this time more than 200 locations worldwide participated. In keeping with the Covid pandemic distancing norms, Bishop John Rodrigues, Msgr. Nereus Rodrigues and the Vice Rector Fr. Michael Goveas conducted this special rosary service at the allocated time (6.00pm) for India. Video coverage for the rosary was done by Mr. Ronnie Cardoza. Nereus Rodrigues after the 11.30am novena. Present at this function were prominent civic authorities and local citizens of all faiths. INTER-FAITH RELIGIOUS DISCUSSION A unique Inter Religious discussion was held (on 19th Feb 2016) at Mount Mary's Basilica ( convent hall) 4- 6.15pm. exploring the theme" in all religions, belief in the good news of divine mercy is rendered difficult because of the bad news of divine justice. One had to Digest that along with some tasty sandwiches served at the venue.A distinguished multi-faith panel of experts presented their perspectives on God's Mercy and its control on human behavior. It started with an audiovisual of the 'Our Father' being sung in Hindi followed by Pope Francis's efforts to reach out to various other religions including the Jews. Damage control and Jesuit humility was evident. A question and answer session concluded this event. It was attended by the clergy and faithful from different parts of Mumbai. It started at 9.30am and concluded with a solemn mass.
